The story begins in 2010, when Ghislaine, returning from a trip to India with her heart heavy with a fake sapphire, decides to immerse herself in the world of gems at the Société Royale Belge de Gemmologie, then at the prestigious Hoge Raad van Diamant in Antwerp. Meanwhile, her daughter, Laurence Marie, lets her passion blossom as she sketches jewelry, dreaming of creations as dazzling as her aspirations.  

In 2014, the 'Mère & Fille' project took off, marking a decisive turning point for this complicit duo. Since then, these two exceptional artisans have combined their talents to fulfill your most precious wishes. Ghislaine, an expert in gem identification and analysis, travels the world in search of the most exquisite gems. While Laurence Marie, a master in the art of hand-drawing, brings these treasures to life according to your wishes and budget.

Laurence Marie excels in the art of freehand drawing, color sketching and realistic rendering. During appointments, she captures your ideas and transforms them into life-size drawings, evolving as your discussions progress. Each sketch is shaped according to your wishes, guaranteeing a unique, personalized creation.

Approach to gemstones:

At Mère & Fille, the approach to stones is marked by proximity and adventure. Ghislaine and Laurence Marie travel the world, meeting dealers near the mines in search of their favorite stones. Ghislaine, an expert, sees beyond appearances, discerning the properties and impurities of each gem. Meanwhile, Laurence Marie is already imagining the jewel and its history. Each stone acquired is the fruit of meticulous negotiation, creating a unique bond with the merchants and a story to tell.

Sharing knowledge : 

Mère & Fille is committed to sharing its knowledge of gemmology. Through workshops and educational sessions, they offer greater transparency about their craft. They explain the intricacies of gold alloys, the nuances and origins of stones, and the trades involved in jewelry, inviting everyone to discover the fascinating world of gems.

What's more, each jewel is designed and manufactured in Belgium, in the heart of Antwerp's diamond center. Each creation passes through several expert hands, from goldsmith to setter, polisher and engraver. This succession of skills and individual know-how
